Patient comfort and safety is our top priority.

Some surgical procedures however can cause anxiety and fear. Providing you with safe and effective care requires that you remain relaxed and comfortable during your treatment. At New falls dental, Dr. Bowser offers the option of Intravenous Anesthesia for wisdom teeth removal, extractions and implant placement. IV sedation will essentially help alleviate any anxiety associated with your treatment.

Common reasons where sedation may be recommended include

  • You have a strong gag reflex
  • You have a low tolerance for pain
  • You are undergoing a complex procedure

As dentists, we do our best to preserve your natural teeth and care for their health, but there may be times when a tooth extraction is inevitable. Whether it is your wisdom tooth troubling you, or a tooth that has undergone trauma or irreparable decay, or a peculiar problem faced by you or your children, our dentists at New Falls Dental, have the most experienced and gentle hands when it comes to tooth extraction. We do it with finesse and care.

With the right amount of anesthesia, we first ensure that you are comfortable, and the procedure is absolutely pain-free. After the extraction of your tooth, we place bone graft material to ensure the bone is intact. We may be able to place a dental implant immediately or later; in both cases, the bone graft helps in protecting the bone and surrounding structure.

Tooth extraction, however, is not our first choice at New Falls Dental. We try every technique to save your natural teeth first, and only when we have exhausted all options, is when we recommend extracting a tooth. Your healthy mouth is our topmost priority!

Socket Preservation

When tooth is extracted, the surrounding gums and bones have a tendency to shrink. This causes them to recede at a fast pace, which may result in defects and collapse of cheeks/lips. These jaw deformities due to tooth extraction can be repaired by socket preservation. This procedure betters the overall oral health, at the same time, preserves the beauty of your smile and improves the chances of having more successful dental implants in the future.

At New Falls Dental, we follow the process of filling up the empty tooth socket with bone or bone substitute after the tooth extraction, so that your body’s natural ability to repair the socket is followed after this. It results in no shrinkage and no collapse of the surrounding tissues.

Bone Grafting

Dental implants need a bone suitable and strong enough to hold a crown on it, but at times the jawbones associated with your missing teeth get resorbed. This may further lead to poor quality of bone to be able to support the implants. Bone grafting is the procedure where we aim to replace the bone that is missing as well as promote the growth of the new bone. The process of bone grafting helps you in restoring the functionality of your mouth and also helps to enhance your aesthetic appearance.

On top of your upper teeth and behind your cheeks, lie the maxillary sinuses which are empty, air-filled spaces. Some roots of your upper teeth may extend till these sinuses, hence, when the tooth is removed, the wall separating the bone and the mouth remains quite thin. Because of this thin wall, the placement of dental implants becomes very difficult.

A sinus lift or augmentation can allow for new bone formation by raising the sinus floor. If you have suffered bone loss in your upper jaw, then a sinus lift is a common procedure for you. This procedure aims to grow bone on the floor of the maxillary sinus. Because the bone in this location either grows or becomes stronger, the process of dental implants becomes easier.

Third molars are commonly referred to as wisdom teeth. They are usually the last teeth to develop and are located in the back of your mouth, behind the second molars. Their development is usually completed between the middle teenage years and early twenties, a time traditionally associated with the onset of maturity and attainment of wisdom. If you do not have enough room in your mouth for your third molars to fully erupt, a number of problems can happen. Impacted wisdom teeth should be removed before their root structure is fully developed. Some of the problems related to not removing your wisdom teeth include, infection, cyst formation, possible crowding, damage to adjacent teeth. Studies have shown that early evaluation and treatment result in superior outcome for the patient.

A bio-material derived from human blood and is often used to accelerate recovery/healing in medicine and dentistry. It is also used for tissue regeneration. It is specifically useful in case of dental implants as it has a particularly high potential to regenerate the tissues. It makes the entire procedure more comfortable for the patient. It is also capable of transforming adult stem cells into some specific cells that help in the formation of bones and other tissues.
